What is Care, Custody and Control? | |
All general liability policies EXCLUDE coverage for damage to personal property in your care, custody and control. This means that ANY personal property, including a pet, that is physically within your care, custody or control, is excluded from coverage should that property be damaged or destroyed due to your negligence. The CCC is a mandatory coverage under the NAPPS Liability policy. The limit you choose will determine the amount of coverage you have for client's personal property and pets while in your care, custody and control. | |
What liability limits are available under this policy? | |
$1,000,000 per occurrence with a $2,000,000 aggregate. This is the only general liability limit available. Lower limits are not available because coverage is provided on a group policy for active NAPPS members. | |
Do your policies cover 'Pet Taxi' services (transporting pets in my personal vehicle) and if so, what exactly is covered? | |
Yes. The policy will extend to cover pets in your care, custody, and control while in a vehicle. | |
Do I need a separate policy from the liability policy and dishonesty bond to protect me if I suffer bodily injury while pet sitting? | |
Yes, injuries to you or your employees are excluded under the NAPPS liability policies. You would need to purchase workers compensation coverage to cover these types of injuries to you or your employees (dog/animal bite, slip and falls, etc) | |
What is the difference between the NAPPS Individual Liability Policy and the NAPPS Standard Liability Policy? | |
The NAPPS Individual policy is for businesses classified as a sole proprietorship. This policy is designed to insure an individual with no one working in the business but the individual owner and spouse, if applicable. The NAPPS Standard policy is for all other businesses outside of sole proprietors/individuals. It covers Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies (LLC's), Corporations or S-Corporations and provides coverage for business owner, employees and Independent Contractors. The primary difference is that the NAPPS Standard policy is designed to cover employees and IC's, while the NAPPS Individual policy does not.

What is Limited In your Home Care/Daycare? | |
This endorsement provides coverage for pets you keep in your home or your employees or IC's homes. It also provides coverage for doggie daycare operations/boarding facilities on your premises. | |
What does the Housesitting endorsement cover? | |
The housesitting endorsement provides coverage for house sitting when there are NO pets in the home. In otherwords you are housesitting in lieu of pet sitting. | |
When will my NAPPS policy become effective? | |
Since this is a group policy designed for active NAPPS members, all policies are effective the first of each month. We allow up to the 15th of each month to allow for applications/payment to be received. If received after the 15th day of the month, policy will be effective the following month. | |
Is there and age requirement on the policy? | |
Must be 18 yrs old or older to apply for the insurance or work in a petsitting business for the NAPPS policy to extend coverage. | |

Yes, a $100 per claim deductible applies to each claim submitted. | |
| What does "minimum earned premium of 25%" mean? |
| This means if you cancel your policy for any reason in the first 3 months of your policy term, the insurance company will retain 25% of your annual premium and 100% of your annual policy fee. |
